California permit test: right of way
The law says who must yield, never who may force their way. If someone does not yield to you, let them go.
Key rules
- Yield to a vehicle already in the intersection. If two arrive at the same time, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. (CVC §21800)
- At a T-intersection without signs, the road that ends yields to the through road. (CVC §21800)
- Turning left: yield to oncoming traffic close enough to be a hazard. (CVC §21801)
